چکیده

2014 ACO synchrotron radiation has been used to obtain photoelectron spectra of the outer shell of xenon in the 75-100 electron volts energy range. Satellite peaks corresponding to the formation of excited ionic states have been observed, in addition to the main peaks corresponding to the production of the 5s2 5p5 2P and 5s 5p6 2S states of Xe+. A comparison is presented of the intensities of the satellites relative to the main lines for different energies of the incident radiation. There are several ways to excite satellite lines, via core rearrangement, virtual super Coster-Kronig processes, ground state correlation and final state cattering processes involving the primary photoelectron. In this paper we present theoretical calculations involving one particular process, namely virtual Coster-Kronig process, which gives good agreement with experimental 5s binding energy and gives the correct order of magnitude for the relative intensities of the satellites corresponding to the 5s2 Sp4 5d 2S and 5s2 5p4 6d 2S final states. Structural characterization of small Xe clusters using their 5s correlation satellite electron spectrum.

The Xe 5s photoelectron spectrum and 5p(4)nl correlation satellites have been studied in small Xe clusters of an average size of about 15 atoms. The satellite structures are interpreted with the help of the atomic Xe lines. Transition energy shifts between the atomic and the corner/edge/face/bulk components in clusters are divided into polarization screening and exchange interaction energy. Int...

Strong-field many-body physics and the giant enhancement in the high-harmonic spectrum of xenon.

We resolve an open question about the origin of the giant enhancement in the high-harmonic generation spectrum of atomic xenon around 100 eV. By solving the many-body time-dependent Schrödinger equation with all 4d, 5s, and 5p orbitals active, we truly demonstrate the enhancement results from the collective many-body excitation induced by the returning photoelectron via two-body interchannel in...

Strong nondipole effects in low-energy photoionization of the 5s and 5p subshells of xenon

Large nondipole effects are predicted in the angular distribution of photoelectrons from the 5s and 5p subshells of xenon for photon energies below 200 eV. The nondipole parameter g5s exhibits a dispersion-curve variation near the first minimum of the 5s cross section at 35 eV, reaching a minimum value of 20.8 near 40 eV. Rapid variation of g5s is also found near the second minimum of the 5s cr...

Investigation of auto-ionizing states in xenon by resonantly enhanced multi-photon ionization

We have examined the autoionization spectrum of xenon by resonantly enhanced three-photon ionization (2 + 1 REMPI) involving intermediate states 5p6p [J = 0, 2]. The properties of the observed autoionization resonances change significantly with the choice of the intermediate state. For ionization via an intermediate state with predominantly 5p(P3/2) core character, a strong continuum with embed...
